Performance Excellence Network Acquires MN Healthcare Quality Professionals

Combination Provides MHQP Members Access to PEN Resources,

Advances Quality in Healthcare throughout Minnesota

ST. PAUL, Minn., December 13, 2017 – The Performance Excellence Network (PEN) and the Minnesota Healthcare Quality Professionals (MHQP) today announce a partnership that includes PEN’s acquisition of MHQP’s assets.  Both organizations are 501(c)3 nonprofits based in Minnesota; PEN also serves members in North and South Dakota.

“The MHQP board considered several strategic alternatives, and combining with PEN made the most sense to our members,” says Kris Anderson, MHQP’s president.  “With PEN’s resources, infrastructure, and portfolio of member services and benefits, we thought this was the best way to sustain MHQP’s mission into the future.”

Says Brian Lassiter, president of the Performance Excellence Network: “The combination just makes sense.  We have partnered with MHQP for many years, co-hosting events, cross-marketing each others’ programs, offering discounts to the other network’s offerings.  And our missions are both focused on quality and continuous improvement.  Combining the organizations strengthens our network, broadens our product set, and deepens PEN’s reach into healthcare – a sector that is increasingly focused on improvement.”

Effective immediately, MHQP members have access to PEN’s resources, member services, discounts and benefits.  The 46 MHQP members join over 200 PEN existing members.  The combined organization trains over 2000 leaders and professionals annually on best practices in continuous improvement through breakfast forums, livestream and video-on-demand sessions, peer roundtables, workshops, and conferences.  PEN also conducts organizational assessments to help leaders identify and prioritize improvement opportunities and administers the Baldrige-based Performance Excellence Award for organizations in Minnesota, South and North Dakota.  PEN will continue to provide MHQP’s CPHQ exam prep, an important resource for MHQP members.
